The main themes of the WI have been constant over the years and are as important today as they were over ninety years ago when the first Women’s Institute started in the village of Llanfair in Anglesey North Wales in1915.

• Protection of rural Britain
• Conservation of the environment
• Promotion of our cultural heritage
• Promotion of traditional arts and crafts
• Support for women at home and world wide

Lynsted with Teynham WI is one of the oldest institutes in the country. It was founded just five years after Llanfair PG in 1920. Teynham joined soon after.
