HEY! HOW ABOUT YOU?
A MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM OF LYNSTED CHURCH

We need you to be a part of the life and growth of our church in Lynsted as it tries to serve God and be a blessing to our community.  The leadership team stands ready to welcome you, to help you reconnect with God, and to encourage you to become part of what God is doing through the church in Lynsted. If you would like to learn more, please read our message - we are looking forward to welcoming you!

NOTICE

From March: Worship at Lynsted will be at the regular time of 9am each Sunday. Each Sunday the service will have a slightly different style to enable us to enjoy the riches of workship to God.
Each Month:  1st Sunday - Holy Communion according to Book of Common Prayer
2nd Sunday Family Service - a non communion service for all the family
3rd Sunday - Breakfast Praise - an informal service preceded by breakfast from 8.30am
4th Sunday - Holy Communion - with hymns and songs according to Common Worship.

 

30th August (August Bank Holiday): 2pm to 5pm: Lynsted Traditional Village Fete - visit the Fete Web pages.

Saturday 11th September - 10am-6pm - Friends of Kent Churches Annual Sponsored Bicycle Ride and Stride takes place. Visit some of the 750 churches across Kent involved in this fund-raising day, by bicycle or on foot. For information and sponsorship forms please contact:

11th September: 6.30pm - 8pm (doors open at 6pm). The Faversham Waytes present an evening of medieval music – medieval instruments and songs, with tales from Chaucer - in the atmospheric setting of Wychling Church.
Tickets are £8 (children free) and the price includes light refreshments and a cup of mulled cider. For information and tickets call Peter (01795 886337), Jean (01622 859834), Paula (01795 886165) or any member of Wychling PCC.

12th September - Breakthrough! 6pm on Sunday Evenings for 35 minutes. Modern Worship with talk. Lynsted Church.

8.30pm - Followed by Youth Club

18th September: 10 am – 3 pm. Bishop’s day for Laity - St Paul’s Church, Boxley Road, Maidstone ME14 2AH with keynote speaker: Right reverend Trevor Wilmott, Bishop of Dover. Workshops  based on the theme of Communities Morning and afternoon.  Booking forms with details should be available in your church.  Ask one of your churchwardens

25th and 26th September: St Mary’s Church in Teynham - Flower Festival. 
Theme
: Reflection.  Please contact Steve (522510) if you are able to contribute flower arrangements or display.  Also we welcome contributions to cakes, bric-a-brac and small produce stall. 

26th September is Back to Church Sunday. This is an opportunity to invite someone to come to Church with us, with a special invitation on that Sunday. Please be thinking and praying about who you are going to invite. Invitation cards will be available in our Churches from 5th September.

1st October: 7.30pm: Norton Church Harvest Supper:
Cost: £7.50 (Concessions: £6.50 OAP; £3.50 children).  Please bring your own crockery, cutlery, drinking glasses and your favourite tipple.

2nd October: 6.30pm: Lynsted Church Harvest Supper: Cost: £8 (children £5).  Details nearer the time.

8th October - 7.30pm - A new Start Course is planned to commence for 6 weeks (not 29th October). For those who would like to discover more about what Christians believe, and for anyone who would like to be Confirmed or baptised as an adult.
Dates: 8th, 15th, 22nd October, then 5th, 12th, 19th November

9th October: 7.30 pm: Variety Concert in support of the Cluster’s work in Malawi. Venue: Lynsted Church. Entrance £7 which will include wine and canapés.  The entertainment will include monologues, singing, music, sketches. Good fun all round!

  • Cluster Event: UNTIL OCTOBER  (then moves to WEDNESDAY) Quest - each 1st Sunday at 7.00pm in Lynsted Church.  A regular informal gathering with opportunities for worshipping God through music, video, bible reading, speaking, discussion and prayer. Each meeting starts with tea and coffee. Please do join us on this journey.
  • 3rd Sunday of Each Month: 8.30am breakfast & 9.00am informal service in Lynsted Church.
  • Gods Detectives. Teynham Church at the 10.30 am service is the weekly Sunday School which meets every Sunday during term time but just occasionally during term they don’t meet as a separate group if there is a special service in the church
  • 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month: “TG Tips” services at Teynham School.

  • Coffee Drop-In at Norton Village Hall takes place (10.30 am until Noon) on the first Tuesday of every month.

  • Tea and Chat with Greenstreet Methodist Church takes place (2.30-4.30 pm) on the third Wednesday of every month. New Venue: 6 Harry’s Road, Teynham.
  • Thursdays
  • Newnham: 2.30 pm: Short Services of Bible Reading and Prayers.
  • Lynsted Church Youth Club.  Meets every Thursday, 8pm until 9.30 pm. New Members most welcome 50p admission, refreshments included. Contact Jo ( 521714 ) or just come along! 13-19 yrs age group - PS2, Nintendo WII, karaoke, table tennis, air hockey, pool, games, music, singing, art, crafts and trips out.
  • Ladies Fellowship Meal at Teynham Scout Hut - Every Third Thursday of the month: 7.30pm  - (plenty of parking space and well-lit). Our main aim over the last five years has just to be relaxed together and be ourselves. Please phone Pauline on 520129 or Ann on 520228 if you would like to be included - YOU WOULD BE MADE VERY WELCOME
  • Fridays
  • Doddington: 9.15 am: Short Services of Bible Reading and Prayers.
  • Friday Group (this was the Monday Group) - starting on Friday 9th January - 1.30-3.00pm - every Friday of term-time.  Meetings at the home of Lis Bayford (Doddington) for study, prayer, tea drinking, cake consuming and chat.  All welcome, just turn up or ring Lis Bayford (886392).
  • Church Youth Drama Group.  Meet every Friday, 6-7pm  in term time Fridays in Doddington Village Hall. Ages 11 upwards welcome. We perform short sketches in family worship. No need to be a Christian to join in, just enjoy drama and chocolate biscuits. Turn up or call Nicky Lord or Barbara Roberts (886332). Some sessions will be led by Anna Seabrook, a fun and dynamic drama graduate.
