CAN YOU SPARE SOME TIME TO HELP THE ORCHARD GROUP?
the Orchard Group’s events have increased in popularity and grown in size, the small management committee would very much welcome additional Committee members to help with their work.  Their request is all the more urgent as preparations are set in train for the proposed Hallowe’en activities in Park Farm Traditional Orchard.  If you have enjoyed these events in the past and would like to contribute to their future by giving a modest amount of your time, please contact Bob Baxter (521515).

WORRIED ABOUT THE 2012 DIGITAL SWITCH-OVER FOR THE SOUTHEAST?

It may seem a bit early to raise this but already there are businesses pushing the idea that you must replace your TVs. Well, in many cases you will choose to do that, but you don’t have to!
This is not the same as HD or “high definition” TV, which is a different kettle of fish entirely!

FOR DIGITAL SWITCH-OVER IN 2012:

  • Most people will not need new equipment beyond a digital Freeview box on top of their TV
  • But if you do, get more than one quote, compare prices and use a reputable trader
  • Get a written quote for the work you want

UPDATED - POLICE COMMUNITY SUPPORT OFFICER:
Karen Johnson can be contacted by phoning 0777 222 6030 (or 01795 433004).  Messages can be left on the answer machine if she is not immediately available. Or you can e-mail Karen using this address 56352 @ kent.pnn.police.uk (remove spaces around the “@” when typing in the e-mail address).  Alternatively, the police can be contacted on 477055 for non-emergencies. Karen is a member of the Faversham Team.

More general advice on contacting the police: The Parish Council web site keeps up to date what they are doing with the police on specific issues.  The Parish Council reminds us that Kent Police Officers urge all residents to contact police when needed.

In an emergency, always use the 999 system. Many people do not feel confident in using this number, but it should always be used in any case where life or property is at risk, where anyone is likely to be harmed or if you witness a crime in progress.

If you wish to contact police over less urgent issues then the correct number to use is 01622 690690. This number is also for the reporting of crimes that are not recent.

For issues of illegal poaching, hare coursing or other wildlife crime use 0798 068 3726. If this phone is not answered, leave a message and then use one of the above numbers to report the issue.

Telephone aside, you are also able to contact your local officers on the Kent Police Website.
This can be found at www.kent.police.uk where links to contact local officers are present, along with a list of your priorities set for the area can be viewed.
