Report for May 2010

Lynsted with Teynham W.I.meeting Wednesday 5th May 2010

What a start to our meeting on 5th May!!  Somebody had removed the workings of the piano without us knowing it! As we attempted to sing Jerusalem there was a horrid CLONK from the piano. Not the tuneful start we enjoyed last week!! Hopefully it will be back next month.

This months meeting was about the W.I resolution which urges Her Majesties government to make labelling on meat and fish clearer. Apparently produce is often  labelled 'English' when in fact it was only packed here. It is important to know where the food STARTS from. After hearing a lot of information on the subject from Rose Ingram we had to put the resolution to the vote. We were all in favour of this being put forward at the AGM at Cardiff next month.

An outing on July 7th to The  Malta Inn at Maidstone and boat trip is now confirmed,members were invited to put their names down if they wanted to go.

A mosaic workshop is starting at Polka-Dot in Teynham, again members interested in this were invited to put their names down. It will be £25 for a 3 morning sessions.

The Bring & Buy coffee morning organised by Betty Bushel to raise funds to support our soldiers in Afghanistan did well, they raised £106.20p.

Our meeting continued with a beetle drive which was not too challenging but good fun.

The next meeting is Weds. 2nd June 2.00pm. when David Wood will be telling us all about bee keeping.Any ladies wishing to join us will be most welcome.
