Report for July 2007
On Wednesday morning the 4th of July, members of Lynsted-w-Teynham W.I. travelled to Aylesford Priory for their arranged outing. The weather was warm and fine and on arrival, we were able to enjoy a pleasant walk around the grounds and gardens. To end the morning the members then gathered to have their picnic lunch. After lunch, there was a conducted tour of the Priory, starting with a brief history of the Carmelite Friars. We then enjoyed a tour of the buildings and the lovely chapels some of them decorated with ceramic wall reliefs and tiles. We then boarded our bus for our journey home. The visit was voted a great success by the members.
On Sunday the 15th July, W.I.members their family and friends enjoyed the annual Barbecue at the garden of Mrs. Sue Maylam. Except for one short shower, the afternoon weather was fine, and everyone could enjoy the barbecue outdoors. A big vote of thanks goes to Sue and her husband for all the preparation and the use of their garden.
On the 8th August, we were back in Sue’s garden for our Garden Party. The weather was again warm and sunny and we were able to enjoy sitting in the garden for our afternoon tea. There were lots of cakes, scones and sausage rolls and as much tea as you could drink. The afternoon ended with a raffle, we thanked Sue Maylam for the use of her lovely garden, and we hope she will have us back next year.
