Report for January 2009
Due to icy roads & pavements our meeting was postponed on the 7th January until the following Wednesday 14th January. It was good to see so many members and 4 visitors attend our meeting. Being a start of another year there were a lot of plans to make this next year full of events for us to attend, as well as our monthly meetings.
Councillor Rick Barnicott was our speaker who explained how to play whist. We made up tables of 4 people and had a go at playing, and asking questions as we went along. Most of us soon got the hang of the basic rules but expect with a little more practice one can get a little more canny at playing. We enjoyed the game so its been decided to run a whist drive in March where we will be able to practice our skills .
Next month is our branches Birthday Party (4th February) we have decided what goodies we will all supply and have arranged for a birthday cake .Dennis Lee will be the speaker he is going to talk about The Life & Times of George Formby. Its been suggested we dress up in 1920's or 1930's fashion!! This needs a bit of thinking about!!
We are always very pleased to welcome new members so if you would like to come and join us at our Birthday party we will be delighted to see you on Weds. 4th February at 2.00pm at the Labour Hall in Teynham.
Heather Northfield & Jenny Sargent.
