Another Fete delivered by the combined effort and generosity of Parishioners, friends, families, local businesses and visitors from far and wide. Particular thanks go to the landowners of the Meadow (the Candy Family) and the leaseholders (the Macklin Family) whose support over recent years has been very much appreciated for the success it has allowed us.
That generosity and enthusiasm gave us headline results this year of:
Visitors: 1,000 [this was a massive and unexpected rise of 40% on last year - which we thought was already a bumper year]. Spare a thought for the stall-holders who laboured throughout the hot afternoon to serve up this traditional Parish event.
Profit: £3,000 [Nearly 11% up on last year] - our costs were higher than previous years too as we repaired the marquee and paid for a new gas urn (which is just as well given how much tea was drunk!). The Committee will decide shortly on distribution to the Church, the youth club and others. This was made possible by the effort of stall-holders, generosity of everyone who donated prizes, produce, lamb for the BBQ, books, cakes and all the other things that make the day work. The list is a very long one.
Distribution: The Fete Committee will meet again in March 2010 to decide on the theme for the year and the stalls that we shall support for our traditional fete day on August Bank Holiday.
Next Year: If you enjoyed this year’s festivities, would you like to support us next year with ideas, running traditional stalls and games, and helping on the day with the many tasks that need support? Please to contact us and join what is a growing and enthusiastic group of Committee members and enthusiastic supporters.
