Report for April 2010
Lynsted with Teynham W.I meeting held on Wednesday 7th April had a great start as we now have a pianist to accompany us in the singing of Jerusalem!
Thank you Norma Baxter it did enhance our singing!!
One of our members Hazel Cooper and her husband had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Marlene presented Hazel with a plant and card along with our congratulations. Jean Ambers is retiring after 40 years as our area advisor, a lovely photo of her at our birthday party was presented to her along with our thanks and good wishes.
July's meeting takes the form of an outing, this year it has been decided to go to the Malta Inn at Maidstone and then take a boat trip with a guided commentary.
The speaker at today' s meeting was Helen Kendall- Tobias, this lady is a personal dresser. She has a very interesting job advising ladies on the best colours and styles of outfits to suit their size and shape. She likened herself to 'Trinney and Suzanne' . She came along to show us how many different ways you can tie scarves to add interest to our outfits. Hazel had a huge collection of scarves in all different shapes and sizes and we were all quite amazed how at her many creations. She was wearing a plain black outfit to show how these various scarves added interest. I guess we all rushed home to seek out our long forgotten scarves to see how we too could add interest to our own outfits.
A coffee morning was being organised in aid of servicemen in Afghanistan on 22nd April.
We are also having regular whist drives at the community hall and our 'Ladies who lunch' at The Dover Castle.
We are always pleased to welcome visitors and new members so please come along and join us the first Wednesday in the month 2.0pm at the community hall, Teynham.
