Report for April 2009

Bid  Trim  our  president welcomed  us  all and  gave  an  update on  many  projects  &  extra  activities  our  group  is  involved  with.Rose  Ingram (treasurer)  reported  a  healthy  bank  balance  and  that  we  have  37  fully  paid  up  members, which  is  a  good  number.

The  guest  speaker  was  Barbara Beavis from  Le  Gruyere Swiss  cheese, she  was  an  excellent  speaker.  We  learnt  so  much  about  the  making  of  this  particular  cheese and  about  the  cows  that  produce the  milk  for  the  cheese .Apparently  they  graze on  the  pastures  and  wild  flowers  of  Switzerland and  are  not  fed  silage  as  this  affects  the  taste  of  the  cheese. Then  the  best  part, when  we  sampled  the  cheeses,  she  also  made  a  delicious  fondue which  we  had  on  chunks  of  crusty  bread. Barbara  had  even  made  some  cheese  tartlets  which  she  served  warm  with  our  afternoon  tea. Very  nice!!

Next  month  (  Weds  6th  May)  is  our  resolutions  meeting which  is  at  2.00pm  at  the  community  hall.  We  would  be  very  happy  for  any  new  faces to  come  along  and  see  what  we  get  up  to,  so  why  not  join  us?
