Report for March 2010
President Marlene Disney welcomed 22 members and 2 visitors.
Marlene thanked the ladies that helped with the teas for the opening of the affordable houses in Lynsted Lane. The event went well and the teas and buffet was much appreciated.
Several events on our programme for the year have had to be changed for various reasons. One was the talk on ' Hearing Dogs for the Deaf ' this is now rescheduled for August as it had to be cancelled in January due to snow.
Our Whist Drives will now be held in the Community Hall and will be open to non-members, we hope to start these on Weds. 14th April at 2.0pm.
Discussions were held on a venue for the outing we have in July, a few suggestions were put forward and will be discussed again next month.
Our speaker was again a change in programme the very handsome Stephano Cuomo. He is the son of the family who started the farm at Macnade back in 1979. No longer a farm now retail. The family now have the lovely Macnade farm shops we all love. Stephano gave us much information about various cheeses and cured meats. He also brought along lots of delicious food to sample. It was great to hear how well some local farmers are doing producing their own cheese, wine and apple juice. Some have won awards amongst them was 'Ellies goat cheese' which I tried and thought was very good. Macnade here I come!!
Teas were served, the raffle was drawn and competition results given. The end of another very pleasant afternoon.
