Report for February 2010
Lynsted with Teynham W.I celebrated their 90th birthday in style on Wednesday 3rd February.
President Marlene Disney welcomed 28 members and 18 visitors to this very special event. Marlene gave an amusing account of how things had changed over the past 90 years. Many members dressed in 1920's style fashion which helped mark the occasion.
Members had prepared a very tasty tea and the hall and tables were attractively set. Music was provided by wandering minstrel Barry Daniels who also had a few amusing tales to tell. We enjoyed our tea and some social time together. A beautiful 90th birthday cake had been made which the W.I federation adviser Jean Ambers was invited to cut. Photographs were taken to mark this important occasion. The meeting concluded with us joining Barry Daniels in a good old sing- song with old favourites from the past.
Our next meeting is Wednesday 3rd March at 2.0pm in the community hall, Station Rd, Teynham our speaker is Jackie Hitchcock with a talk entitled 'A few of my days'. Any ladies wishing to join us will be most welcome.
